Alor Setar is the largest city and also the capital of Kedah, Malaysia. It is one of the busy cities on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. How to get there:

There are a few ways of getting to Alor Setar, either by car, by bus, by train or by airplane.

By Land

The most convenient way is using the North-South Expressway. There are buses which depart from Kuala Lumpur and arriving at Alor Setar in 6 or 7 hours of travelling time. Bus services are also available as well if you are coming from Thailand.

By Train

As by train, you may board the Langkawi Express train from Kuala Lumpur at KL Sentral.

By Air

Last but not least, there are daily flights from Kuala Lumpur which takes about 1 hour to reach Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Kepala Batas. Then visitors can take a taxi from Sultan Abdul Halim Airport to the town centre which takes about 20 minutes drive.
