Semporna is a humble town located in Tawau Division, at the east coast of Sabah in East Malaysia. There are about 135,000 people staying here. Majority of the population are of the Bajau ethnic. You will find a lot of them are living in sprawling stilt villages over the water on the outskirts of the town.

Semporna is in fact a main stopping point for tourists from around the world before heading for diving and snorkeling trips to the nearby renown islands such as Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai, Mataking and more. Semporna is a small town where visitors can go around even on foot.

How to get there:

To come to Semporna, for visitors from West Malaysia and foreign countries first have to take a flight to Tawau airport. Upon arriving at Tawau airport, you may hop on a taxi and go straight to Semporna, which take about 75 minutes.

Either that of if you prefer a cheaper option, then may consider taking a taxi or bus to Tawau town, then from there take another bus to Semporna. In that case, there are two types of buses, the Minivans or the Express Buses. However, both buses take approximately 2 hours to reach Semporna.
