Krabi Town is the capital city of Krabi Province. It is both a tourist destination and a transit point to the nearby beaches and islands.

Virtually the symbol of Krabi, Khao Kanab Nam is a set of twin hills next to each other with Krabi River flowing in between. It is located around 100 meters from Chao Fa Pier, reachable by long tail boat. If you visit Khao Kanab Nam as part of a tour, you will probably pass by several mangrove forests on your boat trip there. At the twin hills, you can climb up the staircase to see stalactites and stalagmites in the caves, or even human skeletons.

3 km from Krabi Town stands the legendary Wat Tham Sua, or Tiger Cave Temple. You can walk up the 1,237 steps staircase to the summit of the temple to see the 278-meter tall golden Buddha statue. This is also one of the best spots to get a panoramic view of the whole of Krabi. If you are an art lover, you wouldn’t want to miss the Contemporary Art Museum in Krabi Town. Said to be among the best in Southeast Asia, it showcases variety of distinct masterpieces by modern Thai artists.

Krabi Town is also a great place for shopping. To get international brands at good bargains, you can visit Outlet Village Krabi and Vogue Department Store. For a taste of local products and delicacies, do not miss the daily night markets. There are two highly recommended night markets – opposite City Hotel on Soi 10 Maharat Road and another one on Khong Kha Road. During weekends, you can find Walking Street behind Vogue Department Store, from 6 pm to 10 pm (Friday – Sunday). After a long day walking and exploring the city, you may want to sit back and relax at one of the bars, some of which come with live bands.

How to get there:

Krabi Town is conveniently connected to major Thai cities. Krabi International Airport is located just 15 km from the town center, with flights serving Krabi – Bangkok (daily) and Krabi – Koh Samui. There are also direct international flights connecting Krabi to Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, Singapore and other major cities.

Road transportations include daily buses to/from Bangkok, Hat Yai, and Surat Thani, shuttle buses to/from Phuket Airport, and songthaews to/from Ao Nang.
