Sibu Airport is located approximately 23 km from Sibu, a town in the Sarawak state. Towns with closest proximity to the airport are Sibu, Sarikei, Dalat and Kanowit. The airport began operations in 1994. Subsequently it was expanded and upgraded to house the second largest airport terminal in Sarawak, with new opening in September 2012. Its IATA code is “SBW”, and ICAO code is “WBGS”.

How to travel between Sibu Airport and Sibu Town

By taxi:

Coupon taxis are available at Sibu Airport, where passengers need to buy a taxi coupon and pass it to the taxi driver for a ride. Passengers will be charged according to travel distance, which is in the range of RM26 (for zone 1) to RM35 (for zone 9).

By bus:

Local bus servicing the Airport – Sibu and Sibu – Airport routes is Lanang Bus number 3A. This bus is available daily from 6 am to 6 pm. One-way journey takes approximately 30 minutes and one-way bus ticket costs RM3. Bus terminal in Sibu town is located at the waterfront.

By rental car:

Car rental companies operating at Sibu Airport include Kong Teck Car Rental Sdn Bhd. Daily rental for sedans is in the range of RM140 to RM600. Passengers can also find hourly car rental as well as limousine service with driver.
