Named after the sixteenth ruler of Terengganu, Sultan Mahmud Airport is the airport serving the Terengganu state. It is located approximately 15 km from Kuala Terengganu, the capital city of the state. Sultan Mahmud Airport in Terengganu is one of the most popular airports in Malaysia as it serves as the gateway to Pulau Redang, Pulau Lang Tengah and other surrounding islands.

How to travel between Sultan Mahmud Airport and Kuala Terengganu

By Taxi:

At the airport, passengers can find taxis to town right outside the airport arrival hall. Taxi fares are charged per taxi and costs around RM25 one-way into town. From town back to the airport, taxis are available at the Kuala Terengganu Taxi Terminal located opposite Town Bus Terminal, as well as hotel lobby.

By rental car:

There are a handful of car rental companies operating at the airport, including DYG Travel, cartrawler.com and Global Cars. Vehicle types include sedans, SUVs, vans, and minivans. Daily rental is in the range of RM170 to RM620. Passengers can also request to hire chauffeur service.
