Kedah, one of the best tourist destinations in the Northern region of Peninsular Malaysia, is 450km away from Kuala Lumpur and bordering Thailand. Getting to Kedah is easy with air, road, rail or sea transportation.

By Air

Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia are operating regular flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kedah. The airport in Kedah, namely Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Kepala Batas is only 20 minutes drive from Alor Setar.

By Road

Kedah is connected with Kuala Lumpur via North South Expressway (approximately 5 hours drive). Air conditioned express buses to Kedah can be boarded at Jalan Duta Bus Terminal or Puduraya Bus Terminal, both located in Kuala Lumpur. Buses from these terminals provide services to Alor Setar, Sungai Petani, Gurun, Jitra, Kulim and Bukit Kayu Hitam. Express buses can also be opted easily from other parts of the country.

By Rail

The KTM Senandung Langkawi Express Train provides regular scheduled train services from KL Sentral to Alor Setar, Sungai Petani and Gurun before heading to Hatyai. Visitors to Langkawi should disembark at Alor Setar or Arau (Perlis) and proceed to the respective jetty for ferry transfer to Langkawi.

For visitors from Sadao of Thailand, Bukit Kayu Hitam is the entry point to Kedah and the Immigration Office and check point is open from 6am till midnight.
