There’s no getting around it: Rawa Island is gorgeous.

Snuggled between Mersing and Tioman Island, this idyllic paradise attracts aspiring photographers and their Instagram accounts from all over the region. There’s something to swaying palms, calm beaches, and ember sunsets that really scream “INSTA ME”.

So, if you’re after those little hearts and back-to-back “like” notifications, then this article is for you. Hey, I’m not even judging; I’m a fan of those popups too!

Here are the most scenic spots in Rawa to take incredible photos for your Insta.

1. Resorts Beach/West Beach

Rawa Island’s notable coastline faces the west and toward the mainland. It’s back is mostly cliffs and rocks. So you can imagine already where most scenic spots will be.

There is a neverending source of beautiful Rawa photos on Resorts Beach, the beach that spans across Rawa Island Resort to Alang’s. This is where most of the island’s visitors will spend the majority of their stay.

But despite the people, the beach remains unspoilt and is a gorgeous place for Insta-worthy photos on Rawa.

How about some romance in the sunset? This beach faces the west, and thus offers first-class views of the evening sunset.

As the sun sets at Rawa, the island seems to enter a state of new tranquillity. The whole island descends into a certain quietness, and you can only hear the crashing waves as they reflect the rays of a fading day. All the fun and energy of the day slowly seeps away and are replaced by a relaxed state of mind.

You can never go wrong with the ol’ tried and tested tree shot. Apart from bringing out your slim figure, there’s just something about swaying, smooth curvy palm trees that conveys the island spirit.

2. Rawa Island Jetty

The Rawa Island Jetty at Rawa Island Resort can be a terrific location for a photo at Rawa. It is a somewhat busy place, so you can rely on the people and boats for some vivid, colourful shots.

The wooden texture of the jetty itself can also create some beautiful contrast for your photos!

3. The Famous Rawa Orange Slide

Rawa Island is famous for the massive 12m high orange slide that sits on the Rawa Island Resort Jetty. The slide is massive and offers some great views from its top.

The fun part is of course when you splash into the water at high speed!

Some notes: the slide is only open when the water tide is high. It is free and open to all.

4. In The Sea

…or ON it. Kayaks are a cheap way to find a good, dry angle for a photo on the ocean. You can navigate anywhere you’d like for a great angle of the island or the vast South China Sea.

Where Rawa Island truly shines is in its turquoise waters, calm waves, and great visibility to all the marine life underneath. Showcase the beauty of nature with an underwater camera. Bring to light magnificent creatures that live a whole different life beneath the waves.

5. Rawa Island Resort

Rawa Island Resort is one of two exclusive resorts in Rawa Island. The resort is a popular destination and is the main activity hub on the island.

So it’s not surprising that it has well-maintained surroundings, tidy facilities, and beautiful natural landscaping – all of which means more Rawa photo opportunities!

If you’re looking to brighten up your Insta, then this is the place you need to visit.

Tired of looking at blue blue BLUE everywhere? Luckily, Rawa is an island filled with dense, lush forests in its centre. As you make you way deeper into the Rawa Island Resort complex, you’ll stumble across its deluxe hill villas surrounded by fresh greenery.

The fragrant greens give a stunning tone to your photos and are a refreshing colour change from the blue waters and white sand one might expect from an island vacation.

6. Alang’s Rawa Resort

Alang’s Rawa Resort sits slightly below from Rawa Island Resort and away from the jetty. This humble backpacker abode might be lacking in creature comforts and facilities, but still offers beautiful Rawa photo opportunities for those that know where to look!

7. At Rawa’s Peak (Hilltop Trail)

Fancy a view from up above but don’t have a drone? The good news is, you don’t need one.

Rawa’s Hilltop Trail offers spectacular panoramic views of Rawa Island and its neighbouring islands. From here, you can see Pulau Besar, Tengah and Hujung!

Stay up here to admire the sweeping view of the South China Sea. Get some sea breeze in your hair and take in all the smells and sights of an island paradise. Photos taken here in Rawa do little justice to the experience, but they do help to capture some fragments of this sweet memory.
