Located at about 80km from Kuala Terengganu and 22 km from Dungun town, Rantau Abang Beach is one of the most preferred tourist spots in Terengganu famous for its turtles, crystal clear water and white sandy beach.
The locals believe that the leatherback turtles are attracted by the huge rock formation that is similar to a giant turtle. There is also belief that the turtles are attracted by the 2 giant stones lie on a little hill near to the Rantau Abang Beach. The mystifying stone on the hill can be reached by a 30 minutes walk via the nearby village. Visitors who climb the huge stone will appreciate its geological pattern of different sedimentary layers throughout thousands of years. The rock also offers a magnificent view over the beach.
From May to September every year, visitors and tourists from all over the world will gather here to experience this exclusive and wonderful moment.

There are not many accommodation options in Rantau Abang for environment and nature preservation purpose. However, visitors to Rantau Abang Beach can stay in the nearby Dungun Town or stay in Kuala Terengganu which is more happening.
How to Get to Rantau Abang Beach
Rantau Abang can only be accessed by car or taxi, overseas visitor can take a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu then take a taxi to go to the beach. Tourist who prefer on land transport can either take a coach or by self driving, it will take around 6 hours by driving from the capital city to Rantau Abang via New East Coast Highway.
