Itinerary & Accommodation | Day 1 | Day 2

Destination: Alor Setar, Kedah
Travel duration: 3 days 2 nights
Depart from: Penang

In the recent years, we spent quite a lot of time in outbound tours as well as touring around Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands, Melaka and East Malaysia. We nearly forget our neighbor in the northern region. Since there is a school holiday in March, we decided to have a self drive tour up north from Penang to the capital of Kedah, Alor Setar.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Wat Caruk Padang, Paddy Museum, National Science Centre, Alor Setar Tower, Balai Besar, Istana Kota Tengah, Balai Nobat, Clock Tower, Zahir Mosque, Wisma Negeri, Galeri Sultan Abdul Halim, Balai Seni Negeri, Pekan Cina, Dataran Tanjung Chali, Kedah River.

Day 2: Kuala Kedah Fort, State Museum, Darul Aman Stadium, Wat Nikrodharam, Mahathir’s Birth House.

Day 3: Depart for home.

Where we stay

During this 3 days 2 nights trip, we are staying in a hotel called The Leverage Business Hotel. The hotel is located at Bandar Baru Mergong, about 10-15 minutes from the town. Other than 7 eleven, there are also restaurant and cafe located nearby the hotel. The Tesco hypermarket is just across the street.

We booked The Leverage Business hotel from Agoda, we initially wanted to book Superior Twin but this type of room has been fully booked, so we go for Standard Single and Standard Double that cost us RM50 and RM65 respectively. The design of the hotel is very similar to Tune Hotel, although the room is quite small, but the decoration inside the room is quite classy. The room looks more spacious that Tune Hotel, the facilities and amenities are all included in the room rate, with complimentary bottle water and breakfast. I think this is a good deal for us! What surprised us is the staff arranged 2 linked rooms for us!
